Spooky Goings On

is my house haunted?

[Shared by Mummy Glitzer]

The husband and I are usually both sceptics when it comes to ghosts/spirits/whatever you want to call them. However, there have been a few spooky goings on at home recently which have left us wondering that perhaps there may be something after all.

Over the last few months, when we have been bathing H, he often stands up at the end of the bath, points to the far corner above the door and starts chatting in excited toddler jibberish, occasionally shouting and after a few minutes he will wave and say “Night night” with a grin on his face. I had heard that babies and toddlers are more open to such experiences, after all they still have their childhood innocence and are not so hardened by life, so we thought nothing of it and humour him when it happens.

Then there is the fact that whenever the husband is working such long, late hours and H is sound asleep, I still manage to hear to footsteps upstairs, or someone pottering around in the kitchen. I’ve always just dismissed that (although still go up to check on H) as I have rubbish hearing and am super paranoid anyway, I assume my senses are heightened when I am in sole charge of H, as if Mother Nature is preparing me to pounce on anything or anyone that is going to hurt H.

In recent weeks it seems as though things have stepped up and it isn’t just me noticing it.

On the lounge wall, directly opposite our sofa is a mirror. The door to the lounge is next to the sofa. When the lounge door is open you can see the staircase. A couple of weeks ago after putting H to bed, I popped my head into the lounge and asked D if he wanted a drink then went into the kitchen to pour a couple of drinks. D then saw a figure in the mirror walking up the stairs, went out to the hall and called my name up the stairs to ask why I wasn’t fetching the promised drinks. Only I was in the kitchen preparing our drinks.

Again, we thought nothing of it, thought it was perhaps a trick of the light or the husband’s tiredness kicking in following a run of 10 days working on the trot.

Now things have started moving from places we are convinced we left them in, usually having been left well out of reach of H. I too have started “seeing” a ghostly type figure on occasion but again, never face on but rather out of the corner of my eye or in the reflection of a mirror or window.

Neither of us are quite convinced yet but certainly a lot more alert now and yet, perhaps that is why we have started noticing even more shadows or sounds.

So, what about you? Do you believe in spirits? Have you or your family experienced any thing similar?

At my Grandma’s house we had a ghost called Charlie we used to hear him walking along the landing – although I never saw him.

I also once worked in a nursing home, there was a ghost called Ruby who used to appear when one of the residents were about to die, she would make her presence known by moving things. I did see one of the residents in the garden a week after he had died.
