working mum

Over the past few weeks there seems to have been an increase in posts about the juggling act we have as working parents.

To be honest, parenthood can be such a juggling act without factoring in any type of work or any activities for ourselves.

And when we do find something for ourselves we feel guilty. Over the past month I have come across these great posts about getting that balance. Sorry for the ones that I have missed but feel free to link below if you have any posts you have enjoyed or that have helped you to get a better work/life balance as a parent. And please do share your own top tips and experiences in the comments.

This week saw a post from our very own Sally Whittle. As well as already highlighting in September about the personal professional social media divide she then went on to write a post that I am sure most working parents can empathise with. She reflects on whether we can have it all at the same time. I wonder how many other mums feel like they are failing at their parenting duties due to work commitments too?

This week we also started the discussion about education with a post from Hannah Clementson. It really highlighted the situation with educating young women with children as well as education levels once they reach their 30′s. I am keen to bring more educational options to our readers to showcase.

The Muliebrity blog highlighted going for a job only to be relieved when not being offered it. A similar sentiment felt by Jayne over at Mums the Word this month too. Contented Mummy also mulled over commuting and whether it is a work lifestyle she could choose after having children.

And just to end up on a fun note Mammasaurus showed us a bit of her budding writing career.

I am hoping to highlight more posts next month as I think we all have so many different things to share. It can be such a support so if you feel you have a post that can help why not share with us!

It is quite hard getting that balance right and I suspect many parents of younger children are pulling their hair out on a daily basis. My daughter is nearly 13 but she does need a lot of supervision and as soon as she comes home from school, or is on school hols, it’s impossible for me to concentrate on writing. They always seem to want you when you’re in the thick of it!
