blanket

[Shared by Down the Rabbit Hole]

Firstly I’d like to say, that this is the largest blanket I have EVER made.

Its taken me approx 50/60 hours to make all the squares, put the beast together and edge it.

The original design comes from HERE , its not my design all credit for its creation goes to the original designer.

I just copied

So my reasons behind choosing this blanket?

Well firstly I wanted a blanket to cover mine and the Hubbys bed for winter, but i wanted one i could wash or use else where like on the sofa or take away someplace.

I wanted the choice of the blanket to bit a bit on the geeky side, but not soo geeky that my regular friends and family wouldnt get it.

So i popped on to my search engine of choice for patterns the lovely RAVELRY, and began to browse their free crochet blanket patterns.

After a few pages I found what I was looking for.

Also when i saw the pattern for this blanket i new Hubby and Jay would love it as they both are HUGEEEEE dance/hardcore fans, so they would love this beat style blankie

So without any further hesitation I present the Equalizer Blanket.

Here’s our son Jay chilling to the beats in our handmade snuggly goodness.

Its so snuggly and warm x

Because my kid can chill like a pro!

Jay just wants everyone to know he supports his mums handicrafts, and loves the fact many were made just for him xxx

Heres a breakdown of what i used etc.

To get the co lours i wanted for this blanket I had to mix 2 brands of yarn, which wasn’t a great idea as it meant the colours i used with the stylecraft special DK ( Blue and yellow) I had to play around with the tension to get it to match with the other brand Big Value DK as it wasn’t as thick.

I used

  • Red 1 x 100g ball
  • Orange 1 x 100g ball
  • Yellow 2 x 100g ball
  • Green 2 x 100g ball
  • Blue 2 x 100g ball
  • Black 8 x 100g ball

I made 90 squares and finished with 5 rounds of boarder.

Its lovely and snuggly, and after I gave it a quick cold wash in the machine and hung it out to dry on the line for a while, it smells divine, and very homely. But with a fantastically wacky pattern.

I hope you like it as much as I do. The colours are very bright and stand out perfectly.

Please share if you can as i have entered UK handmade s competition with this post so please help support me by voting at their website
