Tots100 RatedPeople.com Competition

This month we’ve teamed up with RatedPeople.com, the website that connects homeowners with quality, local tradesmen, to bring you a very exciting competition with £2,500 up for grabs!

Tots100 and Ratedpeople.com are challenging you to makeover a room in the most creative way you can think of.

Tell us which room in your home you’d like to transform, and how you’d do it, and you could be in with a chance of winning £2,500 worth of tools, materials and expert tradesman advice. RatedPeople.com will provide you with the tradesman and pay for his/her time – and there’s no rush – we’ll be there when you’re ready to start your project. One lucky runner up will receive a mini makeover worth £500.

Want to get involved?

Use whatever medium you like to show us your ideas: photos, videos, Pinterest or any other way you can think of. The more creative, the better!

Tell or show us exactly what you’d like your dream room to look like if you had the money or the guts; it could be your kitchen, bathroom, living room or bedroom. Choose one of the three makeover categories below, and you must include the appropriate badge somewhere below, in your post. (To grab the badge, copy the HTML code next to your selected badge, and when you’re composing your post, use the HTML view, and paste in the appropriate code. Depending on your blog platform you MAY need to retype the quotation marks in the code before hitting publish)

When you’re done just tweet us the link to your entry @tots100 using the hashtag #TotsDIY. It’s that simple!

Winning criteria:

RatedPeople.com’s celebrity ambassador, property expert and former Bond girl, Fiona Fullerton will pick the winners, based on what she deems the most creative entries.

All entries must be submitted before 5pm on Friday, 19th October and must include a Tots100/RatedPeople badge linked to one of the three URLs specified below.

Oh wow what a super competition and possibly the only opportunity for the darling husband and myself to get the bedroom of our dreams!! I am totally fed up and down about not having our own bedroom which is currently a building site, no bed, no doors, un plastered walls and an en suite with nothing in it. Yes we king of ran out of money and inclination. Maybe this super opportunity could be just what I need to motivate me to do aomething about it and hopefully maybe I’ll get that shabby chic bedroom I would love.

You need to look at the quote marks in your code – if they’re curvy or have duplicated as you copy/pasted them, you need to delete them and type them again. Let us know if you’re still stuck after that.

I’m sorry to be dense – please could you email me the step by step instructions? I am trying to paste the badge into the main body of my post, using WordPress.
Thanks for your help, and for a great competition!

Hi, if you are using WordPress.com copy/pasting the code can sometimes add extra quotation marks, or change the quote marks from straight to curvy, which won’t work.

You can fix this easily by going through the code on your blog and making sure all quotation marks look like the ones on our site. This may mean replacing quote marks that look curvy with straight ones, and possibly deleting extra quote marks.

Give it a try and if you’re stuck, let us know.

Decorating is always on my mind, great competition! I hope I can do something even with the tiniest of my rooms :)

I have just tried re-pasting, now you’ve got the code in those funky little scrollable boxes, and it looks like it’s working.
Thanks for the advice, and for bearing with me. Am just finishing off my entry now, and a bit pathetically excited.

What an exciting challenge, I’d already started looking at things and never thought to use Pintrest to put together my ideas as I’d kind of not got to grips with it. But now I’m on a role. I’ve even got it on my iPhone and I will blog about my potential work going to take place. Thanks :)
