I don’t know about you, but I always find the school holidays start to speed up once we hit the second half of August – and before you know it, you’re staring down the barrel of a new school term.
For me, that means early morning scrambles to get my daughter up, dressed and fed in time for the 15 minute drive to school – complete with traffic jams and parking headaches.
I sometimes dream about being able to walk to a school – but is walking to school all it’s cracked up to be?
We asked three Tots100 bloggers to tell us about their school journeys and we would love you to help us decide which school journey is the best.
First up, Laura from LittleStuff tells us that her son takes the school bus. It has lots of advantages, including being more eco friendly than a car, and encouraging kids to be responsible for getting themselves, and all their belongings to the bus stop in good time.
Meanwhile, Claire over at Seasider in the City argues that driving to school is sometimes the only option for busy working parents. Driving to school means Claire gets more time in the office, which means fewer hours working from home, and missing out on family life. Driving also means extra time in bed and NO lugging heavy kit bags home! These are important considerations, friends.
Finally, Kelly at Big Fashionista is keeping it old school. Walking to school with her children has provided countless memories, as well as opportunities to learn about colours and nature, and why it’s important not to pick up manky feathers. And if it rains? Well, that’s just the universe telling you it’s time to jump in a muddy puddle, surely?
What do you think? Our colleagues at Parentdish would love to hear how YOU tackle the school run – walk, bus or car?
There’s a heated debate in full swing over on the site, and a poll where you can share your thoughts on the school run – when the vote closes, the blogger who receives most support will win a £100 cash prize! (We can’t guarantee they’ll share it with you, but you never know…)
Another great reason to visit Parentdish this month is that you could win one of 10 £50 vouchers for Clarks – the perfect place to have your children measured and fitted for new school shoes. This dead simple competition takes just 30 seconds to enter and could make your back to school shopping just a leetle bit less painful. What are you waiting for?
